Dupree to Bulgaria and the Balkan League
July 14, 2012 – Pro Partner Sports Management’s Braxton Dupree has signed with Rilski Sportist Samokov in Bulgaria’s NBL. The team will compete both domestically and in the highly-competitive EUROHOLD Balkan League (BIBL) against the top clubs from Croatia, Israel, Montenegro, Serbia, Romania, and Macedonia. Rilski was the Balkan League champion in 2009 and will look to Dupree as an inside presence to help regain their position atop the standings.
As a rookie last season, Braxton was signed by Maccabi Ashdod of Israel’s Premier League and loaned to Nes-Ziona where he averaged 8.0ppg, 5.9rpg, and shot 51.1% from the field. He later joined the London Lightning in Canada and helped the organization become the first champion of the country’s National Basketball League. In college, Braxton played for Towson University averaging 12.0ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.3bpg as a senior during the 2010-11 season. Dupree is yet another example of the hard-working and successful pro players that the CAA conference has produced over the past decade.
“The opportunity for Braxton to get the exposure of international competition this early in his career is exciting for all of us” said Pro Partner’s Jim Buckley. “Working against the top NT players and coaches from around the world is how players expand their game and challenge themselves. The Adriatic region values toughness and physicality. Braxton will be a natural fit and we expect him to be a key part of Rilski’s success this season.”
