Nate Gerwig signs with Slovakian champion

October 1, 2012 — Pro Partner Sports Management is happy to announce that Nate Gerwig has signed with the reigning champion of Slovakia’s top league, BC Prievzida. This will be Gerwig’s sixth professional season with experience in Germany in both the BBL and ProA and in the NBA D-League with Fort Wayne Mad Ants.  Last season, playing for the ProA club Cuxhaven, Gerwig averaged 11.9 points and 7.6 rebounds a game, while shooting an impressive 60.7% from the floor.

The 6’9″ veteran center will be the primary inside scoring and rebounding presence for first-year coach Jamie Andrisevic who joins Prievidza after winning the Coach of the Year for taking the Asker Aliens BC to the Norwegian finals last season.  The young American coach played himself at Arizona State and briefly professionally in Germany before joining Drake University’s coaching staff.

Gerwig joins the club as they return from a tough road trip to the Czech Republic that included close losses to Prague and BK Pardubice and expectations are high for the Pittsburgh native as the club works to defend its Extraliga title in 2013.  Pro Partner’s Jim Buckley said of the signing, “Nate has an opportunity to play for a young, up-and-coming coach in Jamie who knows how to get the best out of his players.  Nate’s stepping out of Germany and into a new challenge that we all know he’s ready for.”
