NCAA’s leading scorer Lamonte Thomas signs in Germany

November 27, 2012 – What Pro Partner Sports client Lamonte Thomas accomplished during the course of his NCAA career put the world on notice.  Now the Providence native will take his shot at a professional career overseas as he signs his first deal with MTV Wolfenbuettel in Germany’s ProB league.

Lamonte led the NCAA (all divisions) in scoring for two consecutive seasons at Johnson and Wales University both of which he was named an All-American. As a senior, Thomas averaged an astounding 34.1ppg, 5.8rpg, 4.8apg (FG: 48.5%, 3FG: 37.6%, FT: 83.5%).  The 6’2” guard has been named a GNAC 1st Team All-Conference selection since he was a sophomore and was Conference Player of the Year and Playoff MVP in 2011.

While the majority of NCAA D2 and D3 players are forced to start their career in Germany’s lower-level Regionalliga, Thomas held-out steadfastly for the right opportunity and will now showcase his talents against some of the world’s best in ProB.  Wolfenbuettel currently sits in a tie for 5th place in the North group with a record of 4-5 under Coach Benjamin Travnizek and will look for immediate contributions as a scorer and leader from Thomas as they make their push for a playoff spot.

PPSM’s Nick Morteo said of the signing, “Lamonte’s worked hard this offseason and been patient throughout the signing process to ensure that the job we landed on was the right opportunity for him to begin a long and successful pro career.  We think the world of him as a player and a young man and we’re excited for the world to discover what we already know.”
